Makeup Must-haves!

Hey Guys!

If you follow me you know that I am a makeup artist that specializes in makeup for brides, bridal parties and special occasions. Makeup has always been something I’ve loved and what I enjoy even more is using my skills to make other women feel beautiful and confident!

One of the questions I get asked most often when working with clients or through social media is… “What do you wear on an every day basis?”

I’m going to try to keep this short! Here is a go to guide for the products that I use daily to give me a simple and fresh look fit for everyday.  Oh! and why I love them so much!

You can shop all these products below this post!

Step 1: Estee Lauder Double Wear Foundation  I apply dots on my face with my finger and then blend out with my Beauty Blender. Don’t judge mine in this picture! It’s not in the best shape. lol  I would say I have combination skin but living in the South with all this humidity can make anyone feel greasy. This is my favorite foundation because it gives you a full coverage that is not greasy. It is very light weight and stays in place! As a mom I feel like if I’m not touching my face one of the kiddos probably are. This has been the best for me when it comes to long wear. I love the finish of it once it has had a little time to set!

Step 2: Mac Pro-long wear concealer  Guyssssss, I can’t live without this stuff. I have terrible dark under eyes. This concealer is the only one I have found that doesn’t leave me looking more wrinkled and cakey under my eyes. It stays put and gives me the flawless coverage I want! A little of this goes a long way. I usually ask for a sample container to pump into so you are not wasting a ton of product. This bottle will last you quite awhile. I use my finger or a concealer brush to apply dots under my eyes in a triangle and blend it out with my beauty blender.

Step 3: Laura Mercier Setting Powder  After I have blended out my concealer I dip my damp beauty blender into my powder and tap under my eyes onto my concealer and let it set! This is what some people call baking. This powder is pricey but well worth it. I use the translucent! Not the brightening. There is no flash back with this powder. Yay! I’ve tried several different setting powders but nothing gives the flawless finish like this one.

Step 4: Colourpop Brow Pencil  while my under eye area is “baking” I like to throw on my brows and some inner eye brighter. I love the NYX Wonder Pencil I apply this on my bottom water line. I use the color light. This just makes the eye look more open and clean.  Both of these items are super affordable at $5-6 bucks! Colourpop is one of my favorite makeup brands because you get some great quality products for such a good price! I would make sure to check out their website!  Their eyebrow pencils are the closest to the Anastasia bro wiz.

Step 5: After I brush away the setting powder from underneath my eyes I do a light contour.  Lately to contour I’ve been using  “Blunt” Matte BlushI use this down my cheek bones up my temples and around my hairline. I also like to use this lightly down the sides of my nose. Then I go in with a larger brush and lightly go over those same areas with one of my favorite bronzers Mac Give Me Sun Mineralize Skin finish This gives you such a pretty glow.

Step 6: I use Nars Albatross to highlight the top of my cheekbones and you can also put just a dab on the inner corner of your eyes.  Then I apply Nars blush “Outlaw” Nars blushes are my favorite because they are so pigmented. They last you forever!

Step 7: Loreal Telescopic the best mascara ever! I have used this mascara for almost ten years. No flaking and clumping. It gives me the longest lashes. I will never use another mascara. This stuff is like Gold to me! You can find it at any drug store.

Step 8: Apply your favorite nude lipstick or gloss and you are ready to go!

One Last Tip!

I failed to mention earlier that when I do my concealer I usually blend it out over the top of my eyelids also. Just to give it a clean smooth look and when I brush away the setting powder under my eyes I usually run that leftover powder on the brush over my eyelid as well. This gives you a no shadow look while making  your eye lids look smooth and clean.

I know this was a long one! Thanks for hanging with me! Let me know if you have any questions. I would love to hear from you guys! 🙂

I’m totally out of makeup, so this is perfect timing! Loving your blog. Can you get a lot of these products at Ulta in the mall?

    • August 31, 2017 / 5:25 pm

Yes mam you can! Most Ulta stores carry the majority of these brands. Colourpop you would have to order online! and the Mac cosmetics you may have to buy from a Mac store. In Lake Charles we have one located inside our Dillards in the mall!

I love the fact that you use also use drugstore brands! I currently need to buy new makeup and can’t afford the brands that I usually go for… for a great drugstore foundation for oily skin (I would like high coverage and something that stays in place), do you have any recommendation? Great photos btw! 🙂
